Drop in fuel price to bring relief for motorists
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The price of fuel is set to drop
significantly on Wednesday.
The decrease will bring some relief to cash-strapped South Africans as the festive season comes to an end.
The Department of Energy has confirmed that the price of petrol will drop by between 29 and 34 cents a litre, while diesel will be between 22 and 26 cents a litre cheaper.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will drop by 29 cents a litre.
The department says the main reasons for the drop in the fuel price is a stronger rand, with the local currency strengthening from R14.10 to R13.27 against the US dollar.
This was slightly offset by the increase in the price of Brent Crude oil.
