Drugs worth R1.5m seized in Gauteng

The Hawks in Gauteng have seized drugs worth R1.5 million during two separate operations in the province.
The drugs were seized on Monday and Tuesday.
Gauteng Hawks spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu says they received tip-offs regarding suspicious cargo destined for Australia, the Netherlands and Canada at the OR Tambo International Airport and FedEx in Meadowdale.
"The consignments which were declared as artwork, teabags, toys, medication and toilet seats were seized. About 3kg of heroin and 500g of crystal meth with an estimated value of R1.5 million was uncovered.
“Investigation on this matter is continuing and perpetrators are sought by the police.”
