Updated | By Sibahle Motha
A drunk police officer who invaded the Orlando Stadium pitch on Saturday will face a disciplinary hearing.
The police officer, who is attached to the South African Police Service Rapid Railway Unit, reported to work under the influence of alcohol on Saturday morning.
He was subsequently sent home by his commander.
But instead of heading home, he went straight to Orlando Stadium where he invaded the pitch and began entertaining the crowd with his dance moves.
All this took place while he was still in full uniform.

“It was later discovered that the constable proceeded on his own accord to Orlando Stadium in Soweto, and gained access to the stadium, after which he can be seen on the video clip, dancing on the soccer pitch,” says national police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
“The status and dignity of the SAPS badge and uniform must always be safeguarded and protected with pride, especially by police officers. Therefore, the management of the SAPS views the unbecoming behaviour of the said member in a very serious light. SAPS will not hesitate to act against its own will when found to be on the wrong side of the law.”
