Dubai bound passenger bust with R6.2m in undeclared currency

A passenger en route to Dubai has been arrested after being found in possession of undeclared currency at the King Shaka International Airport.

The South African Revenue Services (Sars) says the passenger was found in possession of undeclared currency worth R6.2million on Thursday.
Sars says the passenger was departing to Dubai when its dog unit conducted a baggage search, and one of the dogs reacted positively to the passenger's luggage.
Sars spokesperson Janine Mqulwana says a scan revealed images consistent with currency.
The passenger was arrested by the police.
No further details about the passenger are not known at this stage.
