Duduza Clinic closed after nurse tests positive for COVID-19

The Duduza Clinic has been closed indefinitely after a nurse tested positive for COVID-19.
The nurse had attended a prayer breakfast at the Divine Restoration Ministries in Bloemfontein at the beginning of March.
This is the same religious gathering that saw leaders testing positive for the virus, leading to a massive tracing of possible other contacts across the country.
According to the statement from the City of Ekurhuleni, the nurse was tracked down after being identified as a contact of the Bloemfontein gathering.
“The results returned positive on 31 March 2020 and the nurse has subsequently been placed under quarantine and is currently under medical observation,” says Phakamile Mbengashe, spokesperson for the office of the Ekurhuleni mayor.
Medical staff at the clinic who have displayed symptoms of the virus are self-isolating while they wait for their results.
Those who do not exhibit any symptoms have been placed on special leave and are self-isolating.
“Potential contacts are currently being traced and will be tested for COVID-19 to mitigate against community transmissions,” adds Mbengashe.
