Durban court denies bail to AKA murder accused

Five of the seven men accused of killing rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and Tebello ‘Tibz Motsoane’ have been denied bail by a Durban court.
The group appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for a ruling on their bail application.
Forbes and Motsoane were shot outside a popular restaurant on Durban's Florida Road in February last year.
Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Ndimande, were arrested in February, along with two other suspects nabbed in eSwatini.
They face charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Delivering his judgment, Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo said the court believes the accused has a case to answer.
"It is the finding of this court that it will be reckless and irresponsible to allow the applicants on bail. It is, therefore, the finding and order by the court that in the circumstances, bail is refused for all five accused.”
Hlatshwayo postponed the case to August for the finalisation of investigations.
“The matter against you is postponed for finalising outstanding investigations to the 8th of August. This is the date agreed upon among your respective representatives and the state. You will be kept in custody until then.”
