Police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane said that Samul Hassani had dropped off some passengers in Lena Ahrens Road (formerly Manning Road) on Wednesday night when he was shot.
Zwane said the motive for the shooting was not known and no arrests had been made at the time.
Netcare 911 spokesperson, Chris Botha, said paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 11pm on Wednesday night.
“Paramedics found a man still seated in his vehicle in a parking lot. After investigation it was found that the man had sustained a fatal wound and had tragically passed away before our arrival,” said Botha.
Zwane said a case of murder had been opened at the Umbilo police station.
On Saturday, in an unrelated incident, two men were also shot dead in a parking bay of a block of flats in Durban after allegedly assaulting a man in a dispute over a parking bay. -ANA
