Capetonians experienced two tremors in late September - less than two months ago.

The only other known earthquakes in the vicinty happened 51 years ago.

That's when two fairly serious quakes struck seven months apart, causing damage in the Boland towns of Ceres and Tulbagh.

Chief Scientist at the Council for Geoscience Michelle Grobler says earthquakes in Cape Town are not uncommon.
