Eastern Cape government supports ‘additional restrictions’ in Nelson Mandela Bay

The Eastern Cape government says that it supports the additional restrictions implemented in the Nelson Mandela Baymetro, as a result of the resurgence in Covid-19 infections.
On Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the area a hotspot and announced tighter measures in the metro, as a means to curb the further spread of the deadly virus.
Premier Oscar Mabuyane says the current measures will help “contain the spread of the coronavirus in the Metro before it can further spread to other parts of the province”.

Tighter restrictions have been imposed In the metro.
These include a curfew between 22:00 to 4:00.
Additionally, the sale of alcohol from retail outlets in the metro will only be allowed between 22:00 am and 18:00 from Monday to Thursday.
Alcohol consumption in public places has been banned and post-funeral gatherings or so-called “after tears” parties have also been banned.
