Eastern Cape man accused of killing stepson abandons bail bid

A 40-year old Eastern Cape man, who is accused of killing two minors and attempting to kill to more, has abandoned his bail application in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court.

The man, who is stepfather to one of the boys he attempted to kill, appeared in court on Friday.

 

The National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana says the man faces an arrary of charges for killing two minors and trying to kill two others in January.

 

“It is alleged that the accused killed two minor boys, aged five and 11, and attempted to kill two more minor boys, aged seven and 11.”

 

Mahanjana says the man is related to all four boys.

 

“The accused is facing two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and four counts of kidnapping.“

 

Mahanjana adds that the man was arrested at a taxi rank in Johannesburg.

 

He is expected back in court on 25 February.
