Eastern Cape man arrested for mom’s murder
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 56-year-old mother in Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape.
The suspect was caught at the crime scene on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Gerda Swart says officers attended to a complaint of assault at the house in McCarthy informal settlement.

"A woman was found with an open wound to her head and she was declared dead on the scene.
"The woman was allegedly repeatedly assaulted with a gas bottle.
"The son was arrested and will be taken for medical observation.”
The motive for the murder is not known.
The suspect will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates’ Court soon on a charge of murder.
