Eastern Cape student in court for dumping foetus
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
An 18-year-old Eastern Cape student is expected back in court next week for allegedly dumping a foetus in a dustbin on campus.
Police arrested the student on Monday afternoon after a foetus was found wrapped in a plastic bag inside a bathroom bin.
She appeared in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where she was charged with concealment of birth.
It is alleged that the student had a misunderstanding with the father of the baby which might have caused her to abort the child.
Police spokesperson Khaya Tonjeni says the case has been postponed for further profiling.
The media has been requested not to publish the name of the campus where the incident took place.
