Ebony Park residents vow to shut down area over power cuts
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
A group of 25 communities in Ebony Park, Tembisa, have vowed to block all entrances and exits to the area on Wednesday.

According to one of the organisers, who did not want to be named, the communities have been without electricity for several weeks.
"We will be demonstrating against the electricity crisis which has engulfed Kaalfontein, Allandale, and Ebony Park,” he said.
“The impasse between Eskom and communities in KAE (Kaalfontein, Allandale and Ebony Park) continues. Twenty-five communities around KAE had transformer failures. Some of the communities have had their power restored while some have been in the dark for weeks.”

He says several roads will be affected, including Allandale Road leading to Midrand.
"A lot of people will be affected. No vehicle or taxi is going to leave the area and the taxi associations in the area will be assisting us in this shutdown."
