EC mass murder case postponed to November

The man arrested in connection with the mass shooting, which left 18 people dead, abandoned his bail application in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning.

Forty-five-year-old Siphosoxolo Myekethe briefly appeared before the court.
Myekethe is linked to the mass murder that took place late last month.
He made his second appearance in court following his arrest from his home in Lusikisiki last Monday.
Myekethe is facing 18 charges of murder and one count of possession of an unlicenced AK47 assault rifle.
The shooting at two neighbouring homesteads in Ngobozana Village left 18 people dead, including 15 women.
Five others were wounded.
Magistrate Williams postponed the case to November for further investigations.
"The matter has been postponed to the 26th of November 2024 for further investigations. I am informed that there is information regarding the Section 205 subpoena that is outstanding, there are outstanding suspects and the ballistic results."
