The municipality confirmed earlier that the fires had claimed a seventh life.
A technical assessment team from the Department of Public Works has been deployed to evaluate damage to public infrastructure caused by heavy storms, strong winds and fires in parts of the Western Cape.
Western Cape Local Government spokesperson James-Brent Styan says today's plan is to also ensure that mop up operations continue and that further flare-ups are prevented.
"We will try to mop up and to make sure there are no flare-ups. We will make sure the fire is contained more so and to bring it under control," says Styan.
Styan says they are monitoring a fire line of 100 kilometres.
"We are cautiously optimistic that if we can just prevent further flare-ups today, we can really give this thing a big old blow to the head," says Styan.
