Following a bus accident on Monday morning, the Gauteng education department has suspended the usage of the company's buses.
"The department has suspended all buses belonging to the bus company whose bus was involved in the accident pending a full investigation," said spokesman, Gershwin Chuenyane. The investigation would include a roadworthy test of all buses belonging to the company.
"Alternative transport has already been arranged for the affected routes," he said. Thirty eight pupils were injured when the bus's brakes failed and it fell into a ditch. "Nineteen learners were taken to Rahima Moosa Hospital and another 19 were taken to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital and treated for minor injuries," Chuenyane said.
All pupils were discharged except for one who remained at Rahima Moosa hospital for further observation. The department is providing counselling to all the pupils involved in the accident.
