Education council to clamp down on fraudulent teachers
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
The SA Council of Educators (SACE) has warned fraudulent teachers to leave the profession immediately, as they will verify every teacher's qualifications in due course.

SACE briefed journalists in Centurion on the conduct of educators this morning.
CEO Rej Brijraj says fraudulent teachers will not only be deregistered, but they will be reported to the relevant authorities.
"Teaching with fraudulent qualifications is a criminal offence. Employers and school managers are urged to contact SACE and the relevant education departments if there is doubt about the qualifications of any educator," says Brijraj.
SACE has detected over 20 cases of teachers with fraudulent qualifications in the current financial year.
Sexual misconduct at schools
SACE says it expects an increase in sexual misconduct and corporal punishment cases for this financial year.
Brijraj says they take these matters very seriously.
He says they have received 97 complaints of sexual misconduct and 267 complaints regarding corporal punishment in the current financial year.
