Eersterust residents unimpressed with Msimanga visit
Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga met with the residents of Eersterust, east of Pretoria, on Friday.
This comes after the residents took to the streets over a lack of housing and service delivery in the area.
Monique Hammond, one of the residents in Eersterust, says she is uncertain about what the meeting was meant to achieve.
She says Msimanga declined to answer important questions that the community had and that this angered the community.
"We would like the mayor to fully answer the questions. This is the community that has been neglected for close to 40 years.
"It is almost like he comes and listens and ‘oh well it is back to square one’."
Residents in the area are complaining about rates and taxes, the housing issue, social and economical projects.
Hammond says the city is blaming the issues the community is facing on residents.
