EFF calls for Gauteng government to close all its doors on Monday
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng have called on all provincial and local government operations to be halted on Monday.

The red berets say that this includes Public Institutions, Speaker of Gauteng Legislature, the offices of Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Head of Departments (HODs) and Managers in all provincial departments, as well as Speakers in all Municipal and District Councils, Members of the Mayoral Committees (MMCs), Whips of Councils and City Managers.
Provincial chairperson Nkululeko Dunga says that the government will not use its employees as “lab rats to test the ground with their bodies”.
“This should include all municipal activities such as councils, committee meetings, oversight visits, planned executive programs and any other day-to-day business of provincial and local government.

“A leadership that has the best interest of the public servants at heart would be wise not to insist on compelling public servants to report to work even and especially when it is evident that conditions will not be allowed. A responsible government will not use its employees as lab rats to test the ground with their bodies.”
EFF supporters are expected to take to the streets before the crack of dawn on Monday as part of the party’s planned shutdown of the country.
It's expected that businesses and some public transport will be out of operation on the day.
