EFF confident latest motion of no confidence in Zuma will succeed

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) believes this month's motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma will see him vacate his office at the Union Buildings.

The motion is set to be debated in the National Assembly on February 22.
The party's deputy president Floyd Shivambu says the EFF would still prefer the motion to be debated before the State of the Nation Address on February 8.
Shivambu addressed the media on the sidelines of the party's annual plenum in Kempton Park on Friday.
"It will be a waste of time to listen to Jacob Zuma on the 8th and several days after we debate whether he is suitable to hold office. And the most possible outcome for the debate is when we put it to a secret ballot and he will definitely be voted out as the president of the republic."
Shivambu says they are confident that several African National Congress (ANC) MP's will support the motion.
"We did indicate in the last motion of no confidence that there is a growing number of ANC members of parliament who are fed up with the presidency of Jacob Zuma. With the outcomes of the 54th National Conference of the ANC that motion is much stronger now."
He says the EFF has no interest in who succeeds President Zuma, as long as he is booted out of office.
