EFF lays criminal charges against Gupta family
Updated | By MornéJK
The Economic Freedom Fighters has laid criminal charges against the controversial Gupta family and all directors of their companies.
According to the EFF the criminal case relates to evidence contained in Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan's affidavit submitted to the High Court on Friday.
In an affidavit submitted by Gordhan, the minister seeks relief from the court to intervene in the decision by several banks to close bank accounts belonging to the wealthy and politically-connected Gupta family.
Documents attached to the affidavit submitted to the court also reveal transactions by the Guptas, amounting to R6.8 billion, reported to the Financial Intelligence Centre.

The EFF believes that a criminal investigation which should be defined by the co-operation of the banks, the Financial Intelligence Centre, National Treasury and many other institutions would reveal the extent of Gupta family's dealings.
The charges were laid at the Rosebank police station in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.
