“We demand that Aquarius employ people from this area. They must stop employing people through the ward committee,” said branch chairman Khathutshelo Tshitereke.
He said the mine must establish projects to skill local youth so that the youth could be economically empowered.
“We want the mine to skill youth and build projects where they could source their protective clothing and others, [and] this will empower the youth,” he said.
Tshitereke said if the mine does not respond to their demand, they would shut down the mine.
