EFF: Miss SA Lalela Mswane must ‘stand with the oppressed’
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on newly crowned Miss SA Lalela Mswane to “stand with the oppressed” by not taking part in the Miss Universe pageant.
The pageant is set to take place in Israel next month.
EFF spokesperson Vuyani Pambo says Miss Universe cannot be crowned in that country.
“Miss Universe cannot be crowned in a country that engages in the obliteration of other people’s beauty, humanity and being daily.

“Before Israel can hots our queens, it must bestow on Palestine it’s beauty by ending its criminal occupation, racial segregation and ethnic cleansing.”
The red berets are not the only organisation which have called on Mswane to withdraw from the competition.
Pro-Palestine supporters have urged the 24-year-old not to attend the pageant, stating that South Africa’s participation would be "inexcusable".
