EFF: Ramaphosa must take responsibility for Bosasa saga
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to take full responsibility for “lying in Parliament”.
During the president’s oral question and answer session in the National Assembly, the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane asked Ramaphosa about the payment of R500 000made by Bosasa CEO Gavin Watson to his son Andile Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa told parliament he would take the matter up with his son.
“He is running a clear and honest business. If it turns out there was any illegality, I can assure you that I will be the first to make sure he is held accountable, even if it means taking him to the police station myself,” Ramaphosa told MPs.
However, in a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete, Ramaphosa admitted the payment made on behalf of Watson was used to fund his presidential campaign.
The EFF leader Julius Malema has warned Ramaphosa about lying in the National Assembly.
“He knows what happens to people who lie in parliament. He could spin that question by the opposition leader.”

In the letter to Mbete, the president insisted the donation to fund his campaign was made without his knowledge.
