EFF rejects FW de Klerk apology, wants privileges to be stripped

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has rejected the apology by former president FW de Klerk and his foundation.

The red berets believe the apology lacks sincerity and relevance.

“The acceptance of apologies without justice is exactly why black South Africans find themselves landless, undermined and on the outskirts of humanity and the economy.

“He must be ostracised from the project of a new and equal South Africa and have all privileges afforded to him as a former leader of the state stripped,” reads an EFF statement released on Monday afternoon.

The foundation has since apologised for its statement, made the day after the State of the Nation Address, in which it labelled the notion that apartheid was a crime against humanity as "Soviet agitprop" – propaganda meant to agitate.

The EFF has once again called for De Klerk to be thrown behind bars.

“In order for true reconciliation to be achieved in this country, men who perpetuated unspeakable crimes against black people in this country like De Klerk must face the might of the law.”
