EFF: Rise of FF Plus ‘no surprise’
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) chairperson Dali Mpofu says the growth of the Freedom Front Plus doesn't come as a shock to him.
Early results on Thursday put the FF Plus at number 4 in the polls.
The two parties are at opposite ends of the spectrum on the land debate, with EFF wanting to expropriate land without compensation and FF Plus strongly opposed to it.
Mpofu was speaking at the IEC’s Results Operations Centre in Pretoria on Thursday afternoon amid the counting of ballot papers.
Mpofu believes this shows the reality of the country.
"I think it is important that people sober up and not be intoxicated by the hugs and kisses of the rainbow nation.
“The reality is that racism is rampant in this country. The reality is the majority of white people do not want equality or they see quality as a threat to them."
