EFF SC promise shutdown of universities over registration fees, historical debt
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFF SC) has promised "harsh action" at any university that does not allow students who can't afford registration fees to sign up regardless.
"When we speak of harsh, it's very simple - shutdown. Disturb the peace. Make those who are comfortable uncomfortable," said the EFF SC's Mandla Shikwambana yesterday.
He was addressing a press conference on issues including the scrapping of historical debt as well as free registrations for tertiary students.
These issues in previous years led to escalating frustration at universities and, notably, the #FeesMustFall campaign.

The EFF SC says it is yet to see free education materialise, hence the call for "radical and militant" action.
"We are going to respond harshly on that because our battle is free education for every child of South Africa," said Shikwambana.
