Eight killed in head-on collision in Eastern Cape

Eight people have been killed in a head-on collision outside Makhanda in the Eastern Cape.
The crash occurred on the N2 just outside Makhanda on Friday.
Provincial Department of Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the accident involved a car and a Toyota Quantum.

“An Opel Corsa Lite, with six occupants that consisted of two males and females as well as two minors, collided with a Toyota Quantum delivery vehicle that also comprised two men.
"Seven perished on the scene while one male from the delivery vehicle died on arrival at Settlers Hospital.”
A case of culpable homicide has been opened by police.
