Eight people have lost their lives in two separate motor vehicle accidents along road N1 in Limpopo on Friday.
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo, Tidimalo Chuene, says the first accident happened in Waterberg District where two passengers, both 68 years old, died on impact.
She cited reckless driving as a possible cause of the accident.
"The driver of a light motor vehicle is suspected to have lost control and collided head-on with a heavy motor vehicle."
Chuene says the second accident happened 40km outside Polokwane, Capricorn District where six passengers aged between 20 and 40 years also lost their lives on impact.
She says fatigue is suspected as a possible cause of this accident.
"The driver of sedan reportedly lost control and collided head-on with light duty vehicle," said Chuene.
