The 36-year-old man was due to appear in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court soon, said Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale.

He was arrested in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday after being shot in the leg during an alleged armed robbery.

"At the time of the shooting, this suspect was also found in possession of a vehicle which had been reported stolen from the Bayview area in Chatsworth, just outside Durban," said Makgale.

Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir, Siboniso Miya, Zoduma Biyela, Jacob Nare, Nkanyiso Mafunda, police sergeant Nandi Nkosi, and Owen Serero are also alleged to have been part of the group that conspired to kill Ximba and O'Sullivan.

Makgale said it was believed the arrested man was also linked to other cases.

"More specifically they [police] have sufficient reason to believe that this suspect could also be positively linked to the Johannesburg killing of Lebanese businessman Mr Sam Issa, who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting last year."

Issa was shot and killed on October 12 in Bedfordview while waiting in his Audi Q7. A white Ford Ranger pulled up next to him and the occupants opened fire and killed him.
