Eikenhof pump station operating at full capacity – Joburg Water
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Johannesburg Water infrastructure says supply to various parts of the city is recovering following a major trip at City Power’s Orlando Switching Station on Thursday.

The trip left thousands of Joburg residents without water.
Joburg Water says the pump station was operating at full capacity on Friday morning after pumping resumed the previous afternoon.
Spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala says it will take time for the affected Johannesburg Water reservoirs and towers to fully stabilise.
“Customers in areas supplied by a direct feed, now have water restored. Johannesburg Water continues to closely observe the reservoirs and towers affected by the outage.
“As a mitigating factor, the entity is also supplying alternative water to residents and critical customers such as hospitals, clinics, and schools.”
Shabalala warns there is no timeframe for the full recovery of the system.
“The outlets of several reservoirs have been isolated (closed) to reduce the recovery period. Pumps to specific towers are also isolated, as reservoir levels are too low.”
Towers affected include the Crown Gardens Reservoir and tower, Brixton Reservoir and Tower, Honeydew Reservoir and Tower, Crosby Reservoir, Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs, Aeroton Reservoir, Constantia Tower, Florida North Tower, Eagle Nest Reservoir and Linden Tower.
The towers are either empty or are critically low with other reservoirs remaining empty.
