Ekurhuleni to restore Brakpan power
Updated | By Catrine Malan
Engineers were working to restore power in Brakpan on the East Rand after a fire at the Van Eck Park substation, the Ekurhuleni Municipality said on Tuesday.
The burnt equipment had been replaced and engineers worked through the night in an attempt to restore the power supply, said spokesman Themba Gadebe in a statement.
"At this stage, 80 percent of the work is completed and work is well on schedule for completion at 3pm today, should everything go according to the plan."
The power was cut on Monday after midday when the fire broke out.
"Ekurhuleni apologises for the inconvenience caused and assures residents that all is being done to restore the power in the area."
