Eldorado Park substation repairs ‘nearly done’ - City Power
Areas in the south of Johannesburg should have power again by Sunday afternoon, City Power has said.
Residents have been in the dark since Friday following a fire at the Eldorado Park substation.
Affected areas include Eldorado Park, Pimville and Devland.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the repairs at the substation were nearly completed by Sunday morning.
"Our teams have been working around the clock to ensure that repairs on the burnt substation are completed. We managed to do the repairs on the transformer. We also installed a new kiosk.
“We are basically hoping to complete all the work by early this afternoon, then we will be able to float the transformer and load all the customers," said Mangena.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
