Elections was final warning shot for ANC: Cosatu
Updated | By Samkele Maseko
Trade union Cosatu has described the Local Government Election result as a final warning shot to the ANC.
Cosatu briefed the media on the recents elections - in which the ANC failed to gain a clear majority in several metros.
Cosatu said while it doesn't want to prescribe to the ANC who to go into coalition with - it has strong objections to any possible deal with the DA.
The federation's president Sdumo Dlamini believes the ANC needs to do some serious introspection, as it could face a calamitous collapse.
Dlamini reckons the party needs to rid itself of factionalism and corruption.
"This was a final warning shot to the movement. It was a final warning shot and we must demonstrate that we have listened to that final warning shot. It seems to have been saying stop issues of factionalism in the organisation," Dlamini said.
The federation refused to lay the blame at the door of President Jacob Zuma, saying one man cannot be responsible for the demise of the ANC.
