Emalahleni mayor laid to rest
Malatjie died alongside her husband, Esau Malajie on the road between Kwa Mhlanga and Emalahleni on Monday.
Emalahleni Mayor Linah Malatjie and her husband have been laid to rest in Mpumalanga on Sunday.
Malatjie died alongside her husband, Esau Malajie on the road between Kwa Mhlanga and Emalahleni on Monday.
Several members of the ANC’s national executive committee attended the funeral, including ANC chairperson Gwede Mantashe, who delivered a eulogy.
Mantashe described the late Malatjie as a down to earth mayor.
"She was a soldier, and she died in her boots, at one time she made sure that this other granny gets her house electrified during my visit in Mpumalanga."
Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane vowed the province will ensure the legacy of Malatjie lives on.
