Emergency shutdown to leave parts of Pretoria without water
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
Residents in several areas of Tshwane could spend most of Saturday without water as the city fixes a major pipeline leak in Muckleneuk.
Work on the pipeline is scheduled to start at 7 am on Saturday.
The City of Tshwane’s Lindela Mashigo says work is expected to be completed at around 5 pm when the water supply will be reinstated.
Mashigo has urged residents to ensure they have sufficient water supply during the shutdown.
"Consumers in the above-mentioned areas are urged to use water sparingly. All properties dependent on water supply for their daily operations are advised to ensure sufficient water storage to remain operational for the duration of the shutdown".
Affected areas include:
Arcadia
Trevenna
Sunnyside
Freedom Park
Part of Muckleneuk, north of the railway line
Part of Pretoria Central/CBD, from Railway to Minaar Streets
