Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Eleven-year-old Soweto resident Monde Ngobeni has told how he cried tears of joy when the Springboks beat England in the Rugby World Cup final in Yokohama.
Ngobeni was one of thousands of Soweto residents who cheered the Bokke during their open-top bus parade on Thursday.
Soweto residents came out in their numbers at the Hector Peterson Memorial and the famous Vilakazi Street in Orlando to show their appreciation for captain Siya Kolisi and his world champions.
“I cried. I cried because it was tears of joy,” said Ngobeni.
Many of the supporters had words of encouragement for Kolisi and the Springboks.
