Employment equity report: Construction and financial sectors least transformed

The country’s construction and financial sectors are the two least transformed sectors, according to a new report.

The Commission of Employment Equity (CEE) latest report was released in Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.

"The sectors that are the slowest in terms of transformation if we look at the latest report we see that the construction sector and the business /financial sectors are the two slowest," said CEE chairperson Tabea Kabinde.

The report, which has now been handed over to Labour and Employment Minister Thulas Nxesi, laments the fact that the country still has a long way to go when it comes to transforming the workplace.

The white population still dominates top and senior management positions, despite only making up 9% of Economically Active Persons (EAP).

The report states that 65.5% of top management positions are occupied by white people, while 54.4% occupy senior management positions.
