Energy DG steps down for health

Nelisiwe Magubane will step down as the director general of the department of energy for health reasons, the department said on Thursday.

"Due to health reasons which lately have proven to be an impediment in the execution of some of her duties, the director general and I have agreed that her contract of employment be re-determined," Energy Minister Ben Martins said in a statement released by the department.
"I would like thank Ms Magubane for her contribution to the department of energy and to the people of South Africa. I wish her well."
Magubane was appointed on December 1, 2009. Her last day would be on March 31.
Deputy director general of Petroleum and Petroleum Products Regulation, Tseliso Maqubela, would be the acting director general until the vacancy was filled.
