Energy expert Ted Blom dies aged 64

The family of independent energy expert Ted Blom announced news of his passing on Wednesday.
Blom was previously diagnosed with cancer.
His became a familiar name in South African households, as he became the go-to expert on the country’s crippling energy crisis.
In a statement, the family describes Blom as a man of honour, dignity, and strong principles, who dedicated his life to the fight against corruption in South Africa.
Blom is survived by his wife and children.
“He was a great father filled with love for his wife and children, always providing and protecting. He always persevered through challenges, fighting cancer for a number of years,” read the statement.
A memorial service will be held in his honour in Rosebank on 13 May.
“We look forward to the celebration of our father's life with those who loved and respected him.”
South Africans from all walks of life, including media and civic society organisations, have paid tribute to Blom.
