The labour department has published the employment equity regulations for public comment.

"The regulations give effect to the Employment Equity Amendment Act No.47 of 2013, which was assented to by the president on 14 January 2014," the department said in a statement on Friday.
"The employment equity regulations 2014 provides practical guidelines on how to implement EE law in the workplace."
Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant signed the notice for comment in terms of the Employment Equity Act. The regulations would appear in the Government Gazette on Friday.
Key issues highlighted by the regulations were the revised definition of designated groups, criteria and methodology for assessing work of equal value, guidelines for assessing compliance, and enforcement mechanisms.
