Eskom to advertise CEO, CFO posts
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
The power utility's new board has been ordered to prioritise the filling of vacant executive posts.
Eskom says it plans to advertise the posts of both Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as soon as possible.
It comes after the High Court in Pretoria ruled Brian Molefe did in fact resign as CEO in November 2016 after he was implicated in former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report.
It also declared Molefe's early retirement package invalid, ordering him to reimburse Eskom the R11 million he received as part of the agreement.
The power utility's spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says Eskom could not begin the search the process of finding a new CEO while court matter was underway.
"It was going to be quite a bit of a challenge if you were advertising and also fighting the incumbent at the same time in court."
Phasiwe says they would have faced a range of challenges if the court reinstated Molefe.
The position of CFO is also set to be advertised following the resignation of suspended CFO Anoj Singh on Monday.
Phasiwe says the newly appointed board has been given a directive to urgently fill the posts of CEO and CFO within the next three months.
"So I'm sure in due course we will be seeing the adverts going out."
