Eskom appoints new technical team to curb load-shedding

A new technical review team has been appointed to probes the situation as Eskom’s power plants.

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and Eskom board chair Jabu Mabuza appointed the eleven specialists on Monday.
The team will conduct a review of operations and the technical environment at the power stations.
A deadline of four weeks have been set for the team to conclude its work.
In a statement, Eskom says the industry specialists are expected to examine plant unavailability due to scheduled maintenance and operator errors resulting in power plants tripping and shutting down.
The intervention follows financial assistance of R69 billion over three years by government.
Eskom CEO, Phakamani Hadebe is set to facilitate the work done while Tsakani Mthombeni and Ian Morrison have been roped in as coordinators of the team.
