Eskom CEO steps down from KKM

Acting Eskom CEO Collin Matjila has stepped down as CEO of Kopano ke Matla (KKM) investment company, Cosatu said on Wednesday.

"The federation thanks him for all the work he has done for KKM over many years and wishes him well in his new position," Congress of SA Trade Unions spokesman Patrick Craven said in a statement.

KKM handles Cosatu's investments.

Matjila assumed the Eskom acting chief executive position on Tuesday, after the resignation of Brian Dames, who was at the helm of the power utility for almost four years.

Craven said Cosatu's national office bearers were working to ensure a smooth management transition at KKM.

"Collin Matjila has indicated his availability to deal with any outstanding issues at the company of concern to Cosatu," he said.

The Eskom board said last week that once a permanent CEO had been appointed Matjila would return to his position as a non-executive director of the board.
