This will be the 6th consecutive day of rolling blackouts.

Spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says it will implement load shedding between 9am and 10pm.

“Today (Tuesday) Eskom teams have successfully returned a generation unit each at the Medupi and Majuba power stations to service. In addition, unit 2 at Koeberg was synchronised into the grid yesterday (Monday).

“This additional capacity has significantly reduced the strain on the generation system. The progress, however, is still not sufficient to enable us to suspend this current unfortunate period of load shedding.”

IEC to launch online voter registration platform

The electoral commission is set to lunch an online voter registration platform to curb the cost of the two registration weekends. The commission's Deputy CEO Masego Sheburi told MPs on Tuesday that the two registration weekends no longer makes financial sense. "In doing so we are now looking at other cost-effective means to assist us in registering voters.

Mantshantsha adds: “Eskom teams are working around the clock to return as many generation units as possible. The colder weather also means demand for electricity has risen significantly.”

Eskom's direct customers can find their schedules on the Eskom website.
