Eskom to implement load shedding on Saturday

The rolling blackouts couldn’t have come at a worse time with large parts of the country buckling under a heatwave.
On Thursday, the power utility had said it would implement Stage 1 on Friday and not over the weekend. However, on Friday morning it announced that it would implement Stage 2 due to the loss of three generating units.

On Sunday, the Springsboks will take on Japan in a crucial Rugby World Cup quarter-final match.
Eskom spokesperson, Dikatso Mothae says the battling power utility would only be able to confirm on Saturday whether or not there will be load shedding on Sunday.
"Tomorrow we will be in a better position to tell you about how Sunday is going to pan out, but the system is quite constrained and is quite volatile."
