Eskom to implement stage 1 load shedding on Monday
Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
Eskom will implement stage 1 load shedding on Monday between 5am and 4pm.
This is after the power utility suspended the planned power cuts on Sunday night.
Stage 2 load shedding will then be implemented daily from 4pm throughout the night to 5am on Tuesday.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says it anticipates that no load shedding will be needed during the day from Tuesday.
“The continued implementation of load shedding is mainly due to the high levels of breakdowns and the limited emergency generation reserves.
“We currently have 5 032MW on planned maintenance, while another 16 390MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.”
