Eskom to keep lights on this weekend
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
South Africans can look forward to a load shedding-free weekend after Eskom announced it won’t be implementing power cuts on Saturday and Sunday.

Stage 1 remains on Friday afternoon.
Power utility Eskom says it will end the rotational blackouts on Saturday after weeks of daily power cuts.
The power utility has been battling to keep lights on in recent months due to a lack of generation capacity.
However, Stage 1 load shedding will continue on Friday from 4pm to midnight.
"Load shedding will then be suspended as the generation system has recovered sufficiently at this point. Eskom thanks the public and all stakeholders for their patience and understanding during this difficult period of load shedding,” says Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
"Eskom cautions that the power system constraints continue to persist. Should there be any further changes, Eskom will promptly communicate and implement any changes as may be required."
