Eskom: No power cuts at Global Citizen as weekend of load shedding looms
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Power utility, Eskom has vowed that it will keep the lights on at the Global Citizen Festival as the parastatal prepares to cut power at the weekend.

Eskom warned on Friday that power blackouts are expected at the weekend.
The cash-strapped state-owned entity says they may have to implement stage one load shedding on Saturday and Sunday - to allow officials to refill diesel generators and water reserves.
“The power system is severely concerned,” says spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe, who vowed that the FNB stadium in Soweto will be excluded from power outages.
“That area falls within the City of Johannesburg. We have been working with City Power to make sure power supply remains unaffected.”
Thousands are expected to attend the Global Citizen Festival, which is set to commemorate former late President Nelson Mandela.
At the centenary commemoration, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran, Black Coffee and Casper Nyovest - to name a few - will entertain the crowds.
Eskom’s warning comes as the utility implemented stage two load shedding on Friday due to technical faults.
