Eskom suspends loadshedding but warns of constrained system
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
After almost a week of rolling blackouts, power utility Eskom has suspended loadshedding.
Loadshedding was lifted on Sunday night, when Stage 2 came to and at 8pm.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says four generation units have returned to service since Friday.
“The emergency generation reserves have also sufficiently recovered. Eight other generating units are expected to return to service by Wednesday evening.”

Mantshantsha has however warned that South Africans are not yet out of the woods, as the system will remain constrained for the next two days.
“The system will remain constrained on Monday and Tuesday and it is expected that extensive use of emergency reserves will be required ahead of the units returning. Eskom, therefore, requests the assistance of all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly.”
